Hey there! They call me Wanee, and I write.
I write because, for a long time, I did what so many of us women are quietly expected to do; go through everything alone. The pain, the hurts, the experiences, the thoughts that pile up with nowhere to go. Giving away our everything, and moving on as though it doesn’t cost us something.
But this blog is not a rant about that.
Going through it and doing nothing about it is not what today’s women are choosing. And it is certainly not what I am choosing. I am here to call it out. To go through it with all of you. To fight it, and to free myself, and you, from it.
Because we, as women today, have opinions. On politics, on art, on science, on humanities, on almost every field in this world. Decade by decade, generation by generation, we are choosing to redefine ourselves and the generations that come after us. Continually. Unapologetically. But there are certain issues that stand in the way of that redefinition; issues that need to be named and dismantled. That is what I am here to do. Through my writings, my thoughts, and my voice.
Wanee Writes is a space of acceptance and understanding, for women who share common views and experiences, who want to come together to learn, grow, support, and relate. For men, it may serve as a window into the real struggles and realities of the modern Indian woman. This is about feminism; and feminism is equality. Of rights, of opportunities, of respect, of social standing, and of everything that should have been equal a long time ago.
For those who don’t agree, well, I’ve said my piece.
